What is Dine In for Life? A History

The first series of Dine In for Life parties was held in July 2000. Five parties were hosted, and in the course of one weekend over $4,000 was raised! Party themes ranged from a Fiesta Barbecue to a Seattle Reign game to a Garden Party and more.

Last year, due to scheduling conflicts, Dine In did not occur. In order to allow more flexibility for hosts, we have decided that rather than coordinate one weekend of parties, the entire month of August will be designated as "Dine In for Life" month.

Goals

The goals of the Dine In parties are two-fold:

1) To generate greater awareness about Pierce County AIDS Foundation programs and services to current, new, and potential supporters
2) To raise needed funds for services

How does Dine In work?

Dine In brings together people in homes throughout Pierce County for privately hosted backyard cookouts, cocktail parties, brunches, theme parties, potlucks, and exquisite dinner parties. Hosts plan the party and set a ticket or suggested donation price appropriate to activities and invitees. One hundred percent of the money raised will be used to provide HIV/AIDS prevention, education, and client services.

Each host or host team sponsors a private party and covers the costs related to their event. PCAF provides plenty of resources and support to make the party a success, including a packet of resources with theme ideas, a checklist/timeline, tips for a successful party, printed invitations, and PCAF information to distribute at the party-even a speaker if desired!

Hosts may "team up" to host parties. (For example, one person could provide the location and the other could cook.) Hosts could then share invitees and expenses.

All you need to do to participate is send an email to [email protected] . Resources and tips will be provided to you when you sign up, and we will do our best to support you in any way possible to ensure the success of your Dine In event.
