Annual Pierce County AIDS Walk
Saturday, October 11, 2003
Get ready! Can you hear it? It is the
crunch of autumn leaves underfoot and the buzz of new things in store for
the Pierce County AIDS Foundation’s annual walk. This year we are
excited to announce the collaboration of AIDS Walks up and down the 1-5
corridor. On the second weekend in October, Life Long AIDS
Alliance, United Communities AIDS Network and PCAF will be joining walk
forces in an effort to increase promotional efforts, reduce costs and
share resources.
Remember, it is never too early to get ready for the AIDS Walk. We need
Walkers, Team Captains, Teams, and Volunteers. There is an opportunity for
everyone. This year, as in the last, we are counting on
walkers and teams to help us reach our goals, as corporate levels of
sponsorship have declined due to the challenging economy.
Our goal for this year’s AIDS Walk is to again exceed $100,000. With
HIV infections on the rise in our community, the success of the AIDS Walk
is more crucial than ever. The money raised in the Walk provides essential
outreach to prevent the spread of HIV as well as client services for those
who are affected by Hf V/AIDS.
So mark the morning of October 11, 2003 on your calendar, start working
out a bit more, talk to your friends and co-workers about being part of a
team, take out your old Walk sweatshirts and get ready to be part of a new
journey with the Pierce County AIDS Walk.
