State Budget Impacts

If you’ve been following the news coming out of Olympia, you’ll know that the State Legislature has not yet passed a budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017. If there is no budget passed and signed by July 1, there will be a partial government shutdown, and without any authority to spend money, contracts with external organizations will be suspended. The entire social and human services continuum will be at risk if there is no budget. For a description of the potential impact on PCAF’s clients, see below.We have been hard at work behind the scenes here at PCAF to create a series of cost-saving options in case there is no budget. Our planning has been based on the following principals:

  • Minimize the impact on clients/youth;
  • Equitable distribution of impact across agency;
  • Management team leads by example;
  • Be proactive and transparent;
  • Minimize loss of agency resources;
  • Close coordination and partnership with Oasis Youth Center, which is fiscally sponsored by PCAF.​

We need your help. Please call or write your State Representative and Senator and urge them to pass a state budget by June 30 or sooner to help save critical services for our community.
