A Letter from Executive Director Duane Wilkerson

Thank you for visiting the PCAF website! 2015 is a year of new beginnings for PCAF. You are experiencing our newly designed website—the first re-design for many years! In February we will move into our new location; a building we own. The first in our history.

PCAF exists to bring hope and health to people living with HIV/AIDS and prevention to those at risk for HIV infection. Over the years we have identified specific key structural and social obstacles that impact both the effectiveness of our work and mental and physical health of clients. Homophobia and stigma are two of the more obvious and insidious of these obstacles.

For the past 27 years, PCAF has been a leading social justice agency combating homophobia! We are proud of the advocacy work we have been part of over the years. While much has improved, we still have much to accomplish. It is stigma—specifically, stigma experienced by people living with HIV—that we have re-dedicated ourselves, as an agency, to address and defeat.

We declare that it is way past time for HIV-related stigma to end! Every service, message and effort we are a part of will now be done through the lens of combatting HIV-related stigma. It was a central focus in the design of our new building. It is a central focus on verbal and nonverbal messages we give to clients, to funders, and to ourselves as staff.

PCAF provides prevention, care and support for people living with HIV in many ways. We could not effectively and efficiently do our work without the ongoing support of the larger community that has supported us for 27 years and continues to support us today. This support comes in the form of thousands of volunteer hours each year and tens of thousands of dollars donated each year.

Thank you for checking out our website. If you have questions regarding our services, volunteer needs, or how to financially support our mission, please contact us.

Thank you,

E. Duane Wilkerson - Executive Director
